With Iran headlining the news, let’s remember that we have brothers and sisters in Christ there.
Iran is ranked tenth on the World Watch List of countries where Christians are most persecuted. The perceived threat of Christianity in Iran, especially by conversion, relates to the perception that Christianity is tied to the regime’s external enemies. Especially during this current state of despair, though, many Iranians are open to the gospel message. Despite police raids on churches, persecution of believers, and unjust imprisonment, many are finding in Jesus the hope and love they are needing. There may soon be a greater opportunity to share the gospel there and mission workers want to be ready to respond when the spiritual door opens. At this point in time, there is still danger for Christians and we need to unify in prayer for their protection while God is at work. He is their light in the darkness. The cords of faith, hope, and love need to be braided tightly for the believers as they remain committed to their Lord Jesus.
Let’s pray for our Iranian family of God:
Almighty God, you are always at work in this world. When situations are alarming to us, they are not a surprise to you and we can trust that you are in control even when we do not understand. Loving Father, you already know all the details about your children in Iran and they are in your hands. As these brothers and sisters of ours struggle in dangerous situations, they may need your help to put on the full armor of spiritual protection you provide. Please protect them from evil and give them your peace in the midst of turmoil. May your Holy Spirit give them courage to persevere. Allow them opportunities to minister to each other, to unify, and to testify to your salvation. We also ask for your grace in easing government tensions and softening of the treatment of Christians. In all things, may your will be done.
Pray for a Bible recipient and persecuted Christians weekly as you work through a Heart Training book.
