What’s been on your mind lately?
Have you been thinking about your Christian family around the world? How about fellow believers in Cameroon? This Central African country is diverse in so many ways, including culture, language, and geography, that it has earned the nickname ‘Africa in miniature.’ Sadly, Christian persecution here has worsened and since last year Cameroon rose six places on the World Watch List and is now ranked 37 out of 50. Persecution is the worst for our brothers and sisters in Christ who convert from Islam, particularly in the north where Islamic militants are active. These Christians are unable to openly practice their faith as they may face abduction, exclusion from their community, church burnings, or worse. Even in these hardships, though, the Holy Spirit remains at work in Cameroon and the gospel continues to spread. God’s work cannot be restrained!
Let’s pray for our family of God in Cameroon:
Our Father in Heaven, you are holy and you call your people to be set apart for you. In your omniscience and in your love, you know all the details of each child of yours in Cameroon. As you see their spiritual struggles, give them perseverance. As you hear their whispers of worship, give them courage. As you feel their pain and sorrow, give them your peace and comfort. Protect them by your angels and provide them discernment as they share the gospel. May they remain in Jesus and bear fruit for your glory wherever you lead them (John 15:4).
