In a society not focused on God, Christians suffering for God are not given much attention. We ought to remember as his followers, though, that Jesus said persecution should be anticipated. As members of the body of Christ, we need to be aware of and concerned about such evil. Considered the deadliest nation for Christians to live in, Nigeria is ranked 7th on the World Watch List of Countries Hostile to Christians. Did you know that following a recent Palm Sunday service in central Nigeria there was a brutal attack against those Christians? They were targeted, burned, and murdered. Households were destroyed and families displaced. As the family of God, we are to care for each other. One way believers anywhere can do this is through prayer. Doing so calls upon the Lord to minister to those suffering and to pray that God’s will be done. It also reminds us to prioritize Jesus as Lord in our own lives, no matter the cost.
Let’s pray for our Nigerian brothers and sisters in Christ:
God our Provider, you see your children’s needs and meet them. Please make your presence known to our Christian family in Nigeria who are suffering because they serve you. You see that as they bring honor and glory to your name, the enemy attacks them. For those who experience the horrors of persecution and the loss of family members, please comfort them and strengthen their faith. Help them to hold onto your eternal hope and remind them that you will avenge those who are against you. Please meet the physical needs, emotional needs, and spiritual needs of these brothers and sisters in Christ. We know you are able.
Keep the persecuted family of believers on your mind when you use a Heart Training Bible verse study and memory book.
